Ma Petite Boutique de Luxe à Moi
The path of Patrice Jacquemin
|
Patrice paints in Paris where he lives with his wife and daughters. After his Fine Arts graduate degree, Patrice worked as a textile designer then as a creative director in successful graphic design agencies, some of them he founded. In 1999, after several meditative trips to “different kinds of deserts” as he puts it – sand and water: Sahara, Jordan, Oceans – he decides to focus only on his painting. In 2006, I decided to import his artwork to San Francisco and America.
To describe Patrice’s artistic process, I found this quote from Chuang Tzu, Chinese poet of the 4th century BC:
“When there is no more separation between 'this' and 'that,'
it is called the still-point of the Tao.
At the still point in the center of the circle
one can see the infinite in all things.”
Patrice’s work is deeply rooted in the Taoism and always stays on the edge of the presence/non-presence, giving you the freedom of an inner voyage without boundaries.
His technique is a real alchemy as he uses mainly natural products and unites antique touches with an abstract rendering. The making process is truly part of his art. It is a spiritual path. Patrice spends months if not years on each of his creations and never compromises. To realize this amazing work of depth and transparencies, he first mixes natural pigments and sometimes colored china inks with acrylic as a medium. Then he either dilutes the mix to make it runny like water or he thickens it with rice flour to give it an earthy texture. When he gets the mix he is looking for, he applies it with the tempera egg technique mainly used in the Middle-Age and the Renaissance in Europe before the oil technique took over. Patrice never uses oil.
It is no mistake that French art critics link him to masters like Mark Rothko, Olivier Debré or Zao Wou-Ki. Patrice’s name is maybe not as famous yet but his mystical artistic quest give to Patrice’s paintings an invaluable life strength and touching beauty that compares to theirs. While sharing the intensity of infinite spaces, Patrice will take you on an intimate journey far beyond geographical landscapes, guiding you step by step to the universal vibration of your own being.
The subtitles of the paintings shown in my boutique have been drawn as hexagrams according to the ancient I Ching divination method. I used two excellent books to give some insight on the interpretation of the Chinese Hexagrams: Dr Stephen T. Chang's The Great Tao and Dr Wang Yang & Jon Sandifer's The Authentic I Ching. The number close to each Chinese name is the picture number given by Patrice's camera when he took the first picture of his paintings: Patrice does not like the idea of a title that could be reductive. Fate and Random. Story of Life. Therefore all the names and I Ching readings are only here to guide you to your inner journey. If you feel that a painting is right for you for a different purpose that the one written down, do not worry: your higher self knows better! The path is in the heart of the beholder.
When you decide to buy a painting and you need more advice on how to choose and use it as a healing adjustment for your soul, contact me and I will be happy to help you through the process. I will also bless it specifically for your purpose at no additional charge. I will also explain the shipping and tax process.
Enjoy! Bon voyage to your true self...
